Material Handling Technician
Location: River Rouge, Michigan
General Summary
 
Operates equipment and performs tasks that support operations of the various producing units and works with materials and equipment to handle, transport, and process product and materials. Directs the flow of material to and from producing units and inspects material. Inspects all associated equipment. Work is performed under direct supervision with results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Operate various types of off road heavy equipment and coke making equipment
* Responsible for participating in safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals and expectations
* Maintain interpersonal relationships with individuals both external and internal to the organization
* Be an active participant of developing and maintaining a culture of professionalism
* Responsible for following all rules, policies, or expectations
* Responsible for environmental compliance
* Performs all other related duties and assigned tasks
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
A high school diploma or GED, must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license, with a minimum of 2 years experience operating off road heavy equipment (Wheel Loader, Skid Steer Loader, Articulated Hauler, Motor Grader, and Dozer) to provide the following: 
* Ability to work in a team orientated atmosphere
* Demonstrated capability to achieve results through people, technology and processing equipment
* Good knowledge of the assigned area(s) of responsibility
* Ability to function within a matrix organization where employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
* Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader
* Must be goal oriented
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, and management

Utility Technician- By Products
  Location: River Rouge, Michigan
 
 
GENERAL SUMMARY
 
The Assistant Operator works directly with the Crew Leader to oversee operation and maintenance in the plant. This person will work directly with maintenance staff and interact with mechanics and electricians as needed on a day-to-day basis. They will be involved in developing maintenance plans in order to improve operating efficiency in the byproducts plant. This person will work 12 hour rotating shifts and will be required to work overtime on an "as needed" basis.
 
  
PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work with the rotating operating crew to safely and efficiently operate the byproducts plant
* Assist in executing purge procedures in the plant
* Maintains interpersonal relationships with individuals both external and internal to the organization
* Be an active participant of developing and maintaining a culture of professionalism
* Responsible for following all rules, policies, or expectations
* Responsible for environmental compliance
* Responsible forparticipating in safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals and expectations
Performs all other related duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 
 

Ahigh school diplomaor GED, with manufacturing experience in an operating discipline preferred, to provide the following:
* Must have basic Microsoft Word and Excel experience
* A thorough understanding of chemical plant safety standards and a focus on personal safety     
* Knowledge of pump and piping applications
* Familiar with operation of automated computer controls in a chemical plant

* Understanding of chemical processes, including distillation and chemical reactors
* Familiar with industrial wastewater treatment systems
* Detail oriented individual with strong written and verbal skills
* Strong safety experience
* Ability to work in a team orientated atmosphere
* Demonstrated capability to achieve results through people, technology and processing equipment
* Good knowledge of the assigned area(s) of responsibility

Process Engineer
EES Coke Battery
 
Location: River Rouge, Michigan
 
Responsible for safety, environmental compliance, productivity, profitability, employee retention, and customer satisfaction within the business unit and all Technical Engineering functionality along with required knowledge.  Assist in management of all Coke Making activities as a collaborative member of the management team.
 

 
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
 
 

Technology Engineers are involved supplying technical support to both the maintenance and operating personnel. The individuals filling this position will also be required to interact directly with outside professional engineers as required to implement equipment upgrades. He/she will be a “hands on” individual. The engineer supporting the maintenance group will have expertise in, but not limited to, hydraulic systems, pumps and vibration analyses of rotating equipment. The engineer supporting the operations group    will have the ability to carryout material balances, heat balances and understand all the chemical reactions that are taking place. These positions require individuals that are self-directed, possess excellent problem solving skills as well as good interpersonal skills.  These positions will require the daily interaction with plant operating and maintenance personnel.

*  Responsible for the implementation of business unit safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals
* Maintains interpersonal relationships with individuals both external and internal to the organization
* Be an active participant of developing and maintaining a culture of professionalism
* Develops employees to maximize performance potential
* Responsible for enforcement of rules, policies, or expectations
* Assist the Facility Manager
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 
A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited university, previous engineering experience in a coke plant, chemical or petrochemical manufacturing facility preferred, but not required to provide for the following:
 
*  Have excellent communication skills particularly with other professional engineers
* Being proficient in making presentations, both oral and written, and be proficient with appropriate computer software applications
* Carryout failure analyses and determine the corrective action to prevent future occurrences
* Skills to analyze the process and determine any engineering changes required to improve product quality and reduce operating costs
* Ability to set expectations by defining the right outcome
* Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
* Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader, who collaborate on employee issues and decisions (including performance management, compensation and development)
