Job Summary:
Expert-Level engineer who provides technical direction, interpretation, organization, execution and coordination in problems relating to the optimization, operation, engineering, and maintenance of company assets. Plans and develops solutions to unique or controversial problems which impact major company programs and goals. Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, novel concepts and approaches. Maintains liaison with key engineers, scientists, and officials of other organizations and companies. Evaluates progress and results obtained, recommends major changes to achieve objectives.
Accountabilities:
- Acts independently on technical matters and maintains liaisons with experts outside the company
- Creates, reviews or revises major company operating documents involving reliability and safety
-Identifies root causes of complex and unique problems relating to equipment impacting system reliability and directs troubleshooting, data gathering and testing to provide cost effective, practical methods of solution
- Leads the approval of new products and technologies relating to company assets
- Makes recommendations and presentations to management
- Participates in the development of applicable industry standards with industry, regional, or national organizations
- Performs complex studies, calculations and analysis related to engineering, testing, operation, and maintenance of equipment and systems
- Provides expertise on the application of recognized codes and standards
- Reviews and approves specifications, vendor evaluations, and bids; provides recommendations for the procurement of specialized equipment, systems or services
- Reviews and revises major company operating documents involving reliability and safety
- Solicits input from, and works with, industry groups whose objective is to define and solve generic industry problems and develop standards
Leads:
- solutions to complex problems related to combustion system (via statistical, scientific methodologies)
- evaluation and implementation of new technologies and combustion strategies
- field service engineering duties including performance testing and related functions
- continuous improvement efforts of combustion programQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Advanced studies in related discipline are preferred
- Fifteen years of experience in fossil fuel combustion environment
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline
- Ability to provide technical advice to senior management
- Ability to train and mentor others
- Knowledge in the Engineering, science, design, testing, operations, maintenance, or troubleshooting relating to equipment, specifications, and utilization in their specific area
- Apply and interpret industry codes and standards in related discipline
- Skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
- Skills in development and presentation of technical White Papers specific to combustion related topics preferred.
