Job Summary:
Experienced-Level position, specific to fossil fuels combustion, whose typical assignments are in the areas of engineering or scientific design, problem solving, and technical support for the optimum operation and maintenance of company assets. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization to resolve important questions. Directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small group of professionals.
Accountabilities:
- Develop new or improved techniques and procedures
- Develops, coordinates, and directs important project or field engineering assignments with complex features
- Keep up to date on current technology
- Provides guidance on company codes and standards
- Provides technical expertise to others within and outside DTE Energy
- Provides work direction, training, and technical guidance as required
- Recommend and implement solutions to complex problems involving the engineering, design, operation, and maintenance of company assets
- Interface with supply chain, outside departments, vendors, and suppliers
- Plan and manage group workflow to meet budgets and schedules
Leads:
- solutions to complex problems related to discipline
- evaluation and recommendations of new technologies
- field service engineering duties including performance testing and related functions
- optimization of Fossil Generation's coal mill program (cost, quality)
- coordination of analysis/results with laboratory
- continuous improvement of coal mill programQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or Engineering discipline.
- Seven years of job-related experience in fossil fuel power plants six years with a Master's degree, three years with a Doctorate degree.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline
- Ability to give presentations, manage multiple projects, train and mentor others
- Apply and interpret industry codes and standards in related discipline
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company
- Knowledge of applications, equipment, and use of systems specific to work field or discipline
