INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
PROJECT AND SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
 
Location: Ann Arbor, MI 
 
 
 
GENERAL SUMMARY
 
 
 
This position is responsible for coordinating all Information Management projects and reports directly to the Compliance Supervisor.   The employee exercises independent discretion and judgment within established policies, procedures and practices. Results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to these policies, procedures and practices.
 
PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Coordinates all Information Management projects and ensures Company resources are utilized appropriately
* Compiles project status reports; coordinates project schedules; manages project meetings and identifies and resolves issues
* Identifies and analyzes Company’s information requirements and defines project scope, requirements and deliverables
* Coordinates project activities and ensures all project phases are documented appropriately
* Consults with users on Electronic Content Management system (ECM) and provides appropriate training, taxonomy development and recommendations for solutions
* Responsible for life cycle development and management of active content on ECM
* Serves as liaison with Information Technology Department
* Serves as technical contact for Information Management related vendors
* Performs all other related duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university in a business related field, with at least four years in a corporate environment to provide for the following:
 
* Knowledge of records management, retention schedules and contract administration
* Demonstrated proficiency in electronic content management systems (Documentum); business correspondence, spelling, grammar and basic accounting
* Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with computer data systems
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management and the general public
* Ability to lead and motivate team members
* Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines
* Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop alternatives and make or recommend sound decisions
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of project management
* Knowledge of technology applications relevant to an electronic records environment
* Possess a keen attention to detail/high level of accuracy
* Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a welcoming, cooperative and supportive demeanor
* Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
* Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader, who collaborate on employee issues and decisions (including performance management, compensation and development)

 TECHNICAL MANAGER
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
 
 
GENERAL SUMMARY
 
This position is responsible for providing technical support to the Power &amp; Renewables Business Unit’s portfolio of power generation plants located throughout the United States.  This position also supports investigations of off-design plant conditions, root cause analysis of forced outages along with technical support for plant and process improvements.  Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
 
PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
* Provides technical support to plants in making decisions involving equipment modifications and changes to plants systems, programming techniques to implement new functions.  Recommendations may involve equipment purchases, development and/or revisions to equipment operating procedures, system operating changes, design changes, modification and/or replacement of plant equipment to maximize plant efficiency and reliability.
* Develops conceptual design, preliminary equipment sizing, projects costs, manages budgets and maintains relationships with equipment vendors, engineering firms, contractors, and DTEES’ customers
* Monitors the design and installation work of outside engineering/construction firms and represents DTEES’ interest from a design, installation and O&amp;M perspective
* Actively participates in project/development meetings and demonstrates a lead role relative to technical issues and associated resolutions
* Provides review of design documents in a timely and efficient manner
* Coordinates or assists in the compilation of all necessary data to investigate viable alternatives to existing plant equipment or procedure modifications to assure plant safety and environmental compliance.
* Provide technical support to plants to investigate forced outage root cause analysis and development of corrective actions to eliminate subsequent forced outages.
* Provide technical support to the Plant Managers to implement cost saving measures, improve plant efficiency and control operating costs
* Assists in the investigation of plant problems and unusual events and provide analysis, recommendations, reports and appropriate follow-up plans.
* Assist in the development and implementation of consistent plant operating philosophies and best practices to maximize plant availability, efficiency, and productivity
* Assist in the development and implementation of a maintenance program/strategy that incorporates economies associated with multiple plant sites, including optimizing the purchasing of commodities and supplies, contract labor and the use/sharing of spare parts
* Support the development and implementation of all business unit initiatives and best practices.
* Assist in the technical due diligence of potential site acquisitions, including detailed review of plant equipment, staffing requirements and overall O&amp;M costs.
* Travel to multiple plant locations (up to 40% of time spent away from primary work location)
* Perform other related duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university in Engineering, with five (5) or more years experience as a project engineer or manager, to provide for the following:
* Working knowledge of equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, high pressure steam boilers, condensers, fans, heat exchangers, compressors, chilled water technology, electrical distribution equipment, transformers, motors, generators and piping and valves
* Understanding of energy efficiency practices, energy conservation techniques, energy cycle types and energy modeling.
* A thorough understanding of the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, including the importance of ensuring high availability, reliability and efficiency
* Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Possess strong presentation skills
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Capable of working alone or as part of a team without a significant level of supervision
* Ability to balance time and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Capable of promoting and maintaining strong, positive relationships with coworkers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and customers
* Willingness to share expertise and knowledge with other team members for the benefit of the entire business unit
* Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
* Proficiency in MS computer applications, including Word. Excel and Projects in a Windows environment

Director of Engineering and Project Management

General Summary
 
This management engineering position is responsible for evaluating and providing technical solutions to both the operations and development groups while overseeing a team of Project Managers/Engineering Managers. A person at this level is considered an expert or authority in energy related equipment and systems. The employee exercises independent discretion and judgment within established policies, procedures and practices. Performance results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to these policies, procedures and practices.
 
Principal Duties &amp; Responsibilities
 
* Manages in-house engineering and project management staff by establishing priorities and goals for the department and individual staff; conducts quarterly progress reviews with staff and documents staff performance annually
* Manages and monitors the project management, design and installation work of outside engineering/construction firms and represents DTEBE’s interest from a design, installation and operability perspective
* Provides support to project managers regarding interpretation, evaluation and resolution of technical design and project related issues
* Provides oversight for conceptual design, preliminary equipment sizing, projects costs, manages budgets and maintains relationships with equipment vendors, engineering firms, EPC contractors, and DTEBE’s customers
* Conducts technical and contract negotiations relative to project performance guarantees, schedules, scope and pricing with outside engineering firms, customers, and equipment suppliers as needed
* Monitors progress of outside engineering/construction firms; establishes reporting protocol and resolves any outstanding issues
* Approves all construction budgets, staffing plans, and schedules in conjunction with engineering and project management personnel
* Provides lead role in providing technical support and due diligence associated with the greenfield project development and acquisition of new company growth opportunities
* Supports execution of company business plan and participates as an integral component of senior leadership team
* Maintains engineering department records in accordance with Company records retention policies and regulatory requirements
* Performs all other related duties as assigned
 
Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities
 
A Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical (or similar) engineering plus ten (10) years experience including supervisory is required. Experience in construction and operations project management preferably with an energy company or engineering &amp; construction firm to provide for the following:
·        Applicable work experience dealing with power generation, gas compression and gas pipelines with landfill gas experience viewed as a plus

 
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·        Working knowledge of MS applications, including Word, Excel and Project, in a Window environment
·        An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
·        Professional engineer’s license is preferred.
·        A well-organized and self-directed individual.
